Operation Round UP
More than $150,779.40 has been given back to local communities through Operation RoundUp.
Are you interested in making your community a better place to live, without lifting a finger? If so, consider participating in Operation Round Up®. The program gives customers the chance to voluntarily round their electric bill up to the next dollar each month. If your bill totaled $63.60, it would be rounded up to $64. The extra 40 cents would be contributed to Operation Round Up. Your monthly donation will never exceed 99 cents. While it may not seem like much, if every REMC customer participated, we could raise $45,000 each year to benefit the community.
Donations are collected in a trust fund, overseen by an independent group of trustees and disbursed through grants. Local residents can make applications for the grants by filling out the appropriate paperwork. The community and its residents can use the grants to satisfy a variety of needs.
How can you help?
We make it easy. Sign up and we'll simply round your electric bill up to the next highest dollar each month. The extra change - an average of only 50 cents a month or $6 a year - is your contribution to the program. If you wish to discontinue your contributions at any time, simply contact Orange County REMC.
How are the funds used?
Operation RoundUp funds stay right here in the REMC service area. Guidelines for awarding this money address needs such as food, clothing, shelter, health care and other community services. Funds are never used for political or administrative purposes. A spread sheet is available that details how the funds have been disbursed. To date, more than $150,000 has been redistributed to the local community.
How do I apply for a grant?
